Volleyball Association Hail Abou Dandeh Njie

Following the recent retirement of Abou Dandeh Njie as president of the Gambia National Olympic Committee, Musa Cassa Taal, president of the Gambia Volleyball Association lauded the veteran’s services rendered to Gambian sports.

The news of the veteran sports administrator who announced his retirement after twenty years as GNOC president and over fifty years in Gambian Sports was a big surprise to the sporting fraternity.

Among them was Musa Cassa Taal who pointed out that, “it was a surprise and shock when we heard that the GNOC president Abou Dandeh Njie is stepping down from his leadership role of the organisation. But all the same he made it for his country both morally and technically.”

“He has not only made a mark in Gambian sports but has also left a legacy in sports development and under his leadership,  the Gambia was able to  contract  former U-17 coach, Osam Duodu who led the team to their first title in 2005.

He described Mr Njie as a role model to all sports administrators who deserve to be commended by stakeholders and government for a job well done for sports development.

He pointed out that through the retired president’s leadership, The Gambia national Olympic Committee was able to promote more development in Gambian sports citing the Gambia Volleyball Association as an example of steady development.

“We wish him all the best and hope that the next incoming president will follow his footsteps in supporting all national federations fulfill their plans and activities geared towards sports excellence,” Cassa concluded.
