Three people from Nofely were yesterday, January 19, cautioned and discharged by the Brikama Magistrates Court, presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh. The trio had been arraigned before the court for the illegal felling of trees.
According to Police Prosecutor Corporal Colley, Ousman Sanneh, Mustapha Bojang and Buba Manjang, in November last year went to a bush in Nofely and cut down a mahogany trees without the required documents from the authorities concerned.
They all pleaded guilty to the charge and asked the court to temper justice with mercy. The Magistrate replied that as first time offenders coupled with the fact that they had not wasted the time of the court, he would only caution and discharge them. But he sternly warned that if they should come before him, justice would take it cause.
