‘Theft’ at Brikama Area Council

Information monitored by the Daily Observer indicates that thousands of Dalasis in coins, have gone missing at the Brikama Area Council (BAC).

The money was reported to have gone missing from the cashier’s office, in the wee hours of last Saturday. Some sources put the amount missing at D25000, but when contacted, Sereign Modou Joof, public relations officer (PRO) of the Council, confirmed the story, although he could not state the exact amount. He said that checks and balances were conducted at all the other offices in the council, and that the missing link was detected at only the cashier’s office.

 The night security  who were on duty the previous night the incident is supposed to have taking place are reported to have earlier been arrested and detained at the Brikama Police Station  since Saturday, but PRO Joof confirmed that they were later released on bail yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Brikama Police Station Criminal Investigation Department are said to have mounted an investigation on the issue since Saturday.
