The Secret Behind Armed Forces Success Is Early Preparation - Major General Tamba

Armed Forces have won the GFA league title with a spectacular 1-nil victory over Tallinding United for the record 2nd time in 6 years and the man behind that success is no other than the 1st vice president of the Gambia Football Association, Major General Lang Tombong Tamba who has reiterated his commitment and allegiance to the club described by many as the most consistent club in Gambian football of recent times.

Major General Tamba who was more than delighted for this wonderful achievement, told our reporter that the only secret behind Armed Forces success is no other than early preparation but was quick to add that motivation was one of the key factors which also contributed a lot to their recent success.

Major General Tamba further revealed that Armed Forces went into this season with the main objective of clinching their second GFA league title which has been successfully achieved and as a result, commended his players for what he described as a magnificent performance and urged them to keep up the momentum as they face another big challenge in the FA Cup championship.

He went further to assure Gambians that Armed Forces will do all it takes in order to participate in the CAF club championship since they have a vibrant committee that will come up with strategies and plans to be able to participate in the CAF championship and therefore urged all Gambians to work hand-in-glove with Armed Forces football club ahead of the championship given the fact that the team does not only belongs to Armed Forces but the entire Gambian football community.

Lang further described the 2008/09 GFA division one league championship as a highly competitive league taking into consideration the total amount of points registered by the clubs, especially the champions Armed Forces, who won the league with an impressive record of 43 points for the first time in many years.

He called on the general public to join the Armed forces team in their victory celebration at the Independence Stadium on Sunday where T-shirts will be given to the first 100 people in appreciation of their support to the team.

Major General Lang Tombong Tamba finally thanked the Armed Forces team, the technical staff, and all those who have contributed in one way or the other towards the success of the champions, and challenged other teams to emulate Armed Forces.

The champions could only manage a 0-0 with Steve Biko yesterday while Wallidan won Samger 1-0.

The draw left the Khaki Boys with 44 points.Biko and Wallidan jointly share 33 points each and both teams placed second in the league standing. The Academy boys now thrill behind at 4th place.
