The private sector can be of help

Editor,

I am a Gambian based in New York, USA, a sport fan and one time sport broadcaster. I have little comments about the withdrawal of the Blue Boys (Wallidan) from the CAF competition.

I totally agree with Alhagie OB Conateh; it is very true that a club with no sponsor cannot foot an international competition - the private sector must be involved in the process. The government should not be expected to foot all sporting activities. Where ever you go throughout the world, the private sector must be engaged.

The government may work with the sponsors by giving them some kind of tax cut to be fully engaged. The government has a lot on their table; you don’t expect them to foot all.
