The Gambia Football Association Division One League returnees, Tallinding United, have lodged an appeal against Africell FC with the football association, Observer Sports has gathered.
The relegation-threatened club have alleged that fellow strugglers, Africell, fielded an ineligible player in goalkeeper Ousman Darboe during their week twelve meeting in the first division league, which Africell won 1-0.
According to Tallinding’s claim, goalkeeper Darboe was a property of Brikama United when he featured for the Africell side in Saturday’s clash of the bottom of the table. An official at the Gambia Football Association secretariat confirmed the receipt of a letter of appeal from Tallinding United, adding that the appeal will be tabled before the GFA Appeal Committee at its next meeting.
The two clubs (Africell and Tallinding) are presently rooted at the bottom of the league table and both sides need the three points to revive hopes of escaping relegation. Africell leapfrogged Tallinding to eleventh position with 12 points after the disputed win, but Tallinding can go level with misfiring Hawks at eleventh position if they win the appeal case.
