Senegal will take on Gambia in an international football friendly on Sunday, January 25, at the Independence Stadium, Bakau, GFA President Seedy Kinteh has revealed.
The Terenga Lions are using the Banjul friendly as part of preparation for the first African Nations football Championship (CHAN 2009), scheduled between February 22 and March 6, 2009, in Ivory Coast.
The Senegalese team who are presently camping in Thiès, 70 kilometers away from capital Dakar, are expected to jet into Banjul on Friday, January 23, for the weekend tie. The entrance fees for the match have been pegged at D50 (covered pavilion), D25 (uncovered) and D200 ( VIP section).
The Abidjan competition, which is meant for only home-based players, was introduced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to develop youth football in the continent. Coach Lamin Sarr-led Scorpions failed to qualify for the maiden Championships after losing to Mauritania on an away-goal rule at the preliminary stage.
