Re-MA Kharafi’s farm

Editor,

I think we should encourage investors to invest more in agriculture. As we know agriculture is the backbone of our economy. If we stop importing foodstuffs like onion, potatoes etc, we will see a big impact on our economy.

We are blessed with the River Gambia so what are we waiting for?
Last month, one of my friends visited The Gambia, and when he came back he was telling some of my friends that in The Gambia even a mere onion is imported. I really felt ashamed, but I knew it was the reality.

Right now I have encouraged this man to go and invest in the agriculture sector, something he has accepted and he is now making plans to go for a feasibility studies very soon. What is the use of the River Gambia if we do not make good use of it?
