Europe over these past few years has literally gone from bad to worse. Most of us out here nowadays are more or less living from hand to mouth and, believe it or not, we are looking for a way back home. The media system out here is largely to blame for this false impression because they seldom make the outside world aware of the negative things going on out here. I have been living in the UK for the past 14 going to 15 years now and managed to invest wisely in my country, The Gambia, in the early years when I just got here and also when it was much easier than it is now to make money.
As it stands, I am striving to come back home because to be honest, there isn't much out here for any of us now. To my fellow brothers and sisters that are looking to use the ‘back way’, please desist from this practice because Europe is not worth losing your precious lives over. The Gambia is paradise in its own rights. Those of us who travel to and from the country on a regular basis see this every time we come over - the steady pace of progress and development, job opportunities and on top of that, having a government and a great leader who cares so much for his people, speaks volumes.
I do agree that some of us do face hardships wherever we are but the difference is being under a leadership that is doing everything they possibly can under their power to eradicate or minimise that hardship. Compare this to leaderships somewhere else that are bent on lining up their pockets regardless of what their people are going through. Gambians like myself have been blessed with a leader and government that is so passionate about taking care of its people, that all we need to do is continue to support, pray for them and be patient.
