PIU Officer Commits Suicide

Report reaching this paper stated that Police Intervention Unit (PIU) officer at Brikama PIU Office in the Western Region has allegedly shot himself to death.

According to our sources, First Class Njokou Manneh shot himself in the early hours of last Monday morning at around 4am, while on duty in Kembujeh Village.

Our sources added that the deceased was on duty with one of his colleagues, Buba Saidy, alias Abok, whom he (deceased) sent to the shop to buy cigarette, and upon his return he found him dead.

Njogo joined the Gambia Police Force in 2006 (Intake 2).

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Sulayman Secka, confirmed the veracity of the story. He said the police are looking into the circumstances surrounding his death.
