Hon. Muhammadu MS Jallow, Upper Fulladu West
There is an urgent need to protect the forests and the existing ecosystems. We should not endanger the life of protected animals and birds species living in it. The ministry of forestry must be very conscious and in issuing license to loggers. Finally, we must also be in line with the rest of the world in the fight against global warming. This can only be done in protecting our forests

Government should take serious action against those who are involved in illegal logging because the importance of trees in human live cannot be overemphasised. They provide shade and fruits for consumption, beside that trees serve as wind breakers and there is a common belief that wherever you have many trees, the rainfall is very good.
Even the Quran, which is a Holy Book, did mention about the importance of trees. That is to say that government should introduce draconian laws against those involved in logging activities in the country.

Well, I think the authorities should look into the way logging activities are increasingly impacting on the country’s ecosystems. I know some people will say that we need to cut down the trees for firewood but we can use another alternative for that.

The Forestry Dept. should put up appropriate measures in order to regulate the logging industry, which is a veritable menace. They should scrutinize the way permits are issued. Illegal logging is hampering efforts to protect the sustainability of the environment.

Logging activity is not a good thing to do because it is widely believed that in any country where there are forests, the rain comes heavily. I know the logging is mostly done by men and women so as to get firewood, which has bad effects in the environment. The use of gas should be encouraged among the public this will help to preserve our environment.
Jankeh Jammeh, Housewife, Abuko
It is difficult to stop logging because people need logs for different purposes, but if there is another alternative to that I believe it will stop. But I know if no proper measurement is taken the people would have problem in the future.
Bakary Chartty, Tailor, Velingara
We gain a wide range of natural resources from our forests including fruits for consumption. Forest products can also be used too for medicinal purposes. That is to say that logging activities need to be regulated. There must be a balance in the way we are exploiting our forest resources.
The worst thing is we are witnessing now is a tragic and dramatic scenario resulting to the continuous disappearance of animals and rare species. I believe there is no justification for logging activities in this era where there is a lot of technologies that can help to find substitution products.
