Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Abdou Rahman Bah, the 2nd accused in his ongoing criminal trial along with Oley Sey, yesterday told the court that he was held at mental gunpoint by Oley Sey.

When quizzed by the defence counsel, Lamin Camara who represents Oley Sey, as to whether he was held at gunpoint by Oley Sey for not putting the D500, 000 in the bank as instructed, he replied that he was held at mental gunpoint. He agreed that he had enough time on that day to put the D500,000 in the bank, but he was with Oley Sey who never gave him breathing space. He revealed that it was the very day of the presentation that Oley Sey took him to her house.

Further testifying under cross-examination, Mr Bah told the court that he, the Abuko Alkalo and the headmistress of AbukoLowerBasicSchool, were instructed to be the three signatories to the account. He added that the D500,000 was never in the possession of other signatories. He agreed that he received the D500,000 on the 29th September 2008 in two black plastic bags. He revealed further that he and Oley Sey attempted to see the Chief of Protocol after the presentation of the D500,000 as he was told by Oley Sey that that was what they agreed with the Chief of Protocol. He said they did not see the Chief of Protocol and Oley Sey took him to her house with the D500, 000.

It will be recalled that Oley Sey and Abdou Rahman Bah are alleged to have conspired and stolen the sum of D500,000 being money meant for SulaymanJunkungJammehMemorialNursery School in Abuko.

The case was adjourned to 15th December 2008.
