OJ Koroma’s Norwich loan deal terminated

Wednesday, February 4, 2009
English Championship side Norwich City have confirmed that Omar Koroma season-long loan from Premier League side Portsmouth is over.

The 19-year-old Gambian’s deal has been terminated after he made only six  appearances for Norwich City- including three as a substitute. The former Banjul Hawks player has since returned to Portsmouth for treatment on an ankle injury that requires surgery.

“Gambian striker Omar 'OJ' Koroma has returned to Portsmouth having had his loan spell terminated early. The nineteen-year-old was signed on a season-long loan by Glenn Roeder in August, but after making only six appearances it was agreed between both clubs that he should return to Fratton Park,” a statement posted on the club website revealed.

Koroma is the first Gambian to pen a Premier League contract when he signed for Portsmouth after impressing then coach Harry Redknapp during a trial last year. He was later loaned out to Norwich City in August 2008 to gain first team experience. However, the striker struggled with injury and had made negligible impact on the Norwich City first-team in the first round leading to the termination of his deal.
