In another development, the managing director of the bank’s parent company, Oceanic Bank International Plc, Dr Cecilia Ibru was appointed to the board of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative.
The UNGC is chaired by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, who wrote to the Oceanic Bank chief informing her of the appointment. The UNGC, created in 2006, is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
