Bubacarr Jabbi, chairman of Operation No Back Way to Europe (OBE), a youth organisation against illegal immigration, has said that Gambia’s young people can work and succeed in the country without risking their lives.
Youths, he said, must be conscious of the fact that The Gambia belongs to them as they form the majority. Jabbi made these remarks yesterday in an interview with the Daily Observer. According to him, his organisation, since its establishment in 2008, has conducted several house-to-house sensitisation events on illegal immigration. He added that the members of the organisation have tasked themselves to sensitise people, especially the young, on the dangers associated with illegal migration.
Jabbi then used the opportunity to send his condolences to the families of the seven Gambians who recently lost their lives on the border between Libya and Morocco after their car was hit by a land mine. Ebrima O Jallow, PRO of the organisation, said“We are doing our best to address the issue of illegal migration.” According to him, they have had a sensitisation forum on community policing, which was engineered by the Interior department. He then thanked the Gambia Police Force for their cooperation.
