New Janjanbureh VDC meets Governor Touray

The newly established Janjanbureh Village Development Committee recently called on the governor of the Central River Region, Alhagie Ganyie Touray at his office in Janjangbureh.

They were led to the governor’s office by the district chief, Bakary Jam Jawo. Briefing the governor about the committee, the chairman of the VDC, Hamadi Jawneh said one of the principle functions of the VDC is to coordinate all the development activities in the village. He said that to be able to do this, all agencies and departments will have to know and accept the VDC as an entry point for all development activities in the village.

Kebba Yerrah Manneh, the secretary general of the VDC noted that the committee is responsible for the coordination of all the village projects and therefore, accountable to the community for the implementation of the village strategic development plan.

Alhagie Ganyie Touray, the regional governor advised the VDC to live up to expectation and execute their duties effectively and efficiently. He pointed out that some of the functions of the VDC are to serve as an entry point for development assistance and activities in the community, support and strengthen all social works within the  community. He noted the crucial role of the VDC executive, and urged them to foster greater understanding and cooperation among themselves, and not to see one another as rivals.
