NB: Communities hail CDDP

The project coordinator of the Community Driven Development Project (CDDP), Lamin Jarjusey, has stressed the need for communities to make maximum use of the development project which is meant to enable them to contribute to poverty reduction.

He made this remark during the recent visit of the World Bank Mission in Dakar to project sites in Koli Kunda, Toroba and Kerr Ngata in the Central Badibu District of North Bank Region, to assess the level of implementation of development projects initiated by the beneficiaries. Jarjusey noted that the project will contribute immensely to the lives of rural people as they work towards the attainment of socio-economic development at grassroot level.

Speaking at the occasion, the chairman of Kerewan Area Council, Alhaji Lamin Ceesay thanked the World Bank through the CDDP for their invaluable contribution towards poverty reduction. He said that the funds disbursed for the development projects will enhance the livelihood of the communities in his region. The KAC chairman assured the communities of his council’s full support in the implementation of the project.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Kaddy Colley of Koli Kunda, Alasan Gaye, and Modou Joof of Toroba and Kerr Ngata in Lower and Central Badibu respectively, thanked the CDDP for empowering them. They assured the project management that  plans will be made to ensure periodic maintainance of the project for sustainability.
