My fear

Editor,

I am a Gambian who lived in the UK for a while. Before moving to England, I worked for a company called Elsafe, which operates in various hotels. At that time there were not so many called European experts living in The Gambia.

But over the years I have been in The Gambia for holidays and it is quite alarming to learn about the increasing number of Europeans in the country. I meet many of them who have settled in the country, many of them old ‘toubab’ men, loitering around without any limits. Sadly, a lot of them use money to get our young girls into prostitution due to poverty.

Some of these "toubab" men are paedophiles. That is my very fear. I want the government of The Gambia, which I have trust in, to try and investigate every "toubab" old man who lives or arrives in The Gambia and wants to settle there with no good reasons. Thank you.
