President Jammeh continues to receive loads of correspondences at State House, with people conveying expressions of appreciation for one thing or the other.

The messages come from individuals and from groups, within and outside the country. In one such letter received from the Office of the President,

State House, Amie Ndong Sonko writes:

"It is with profound gratitude and deep sense of humanity that I extend to Your Excellency my sincere thanks and appreciation for your benevolence in sponsoring me to pursue a two-year course in Information Technology (IT) at the Pitman College in the United Kingdom of Great Britain."

Amie also used the opportunity to convey a heartfelt congratulation to President Jammeh on his "well deserved conferment of the title of professorship" by a renowned university in Costa-Rica.

"This award,” she wrote, "is due to Your Excellency’s immense contribution towards the maintenance of peace and security in The Gambia and the world as a whole." And she added: "This is further manifested in your government’s development agenda, where you put security, health, agriculture and education on the top. The number of Gambian students you personally sponsored to study in different universities around the world, which I am part of, has again clearly manifested Your Excellency’s foresight in developing the human resource base of our beloved country, The Gambia."

Amie harped on the significance of the opportunity the president personally offered her to study in UK, stressing that it has indeed broadened her skills and scope of understanding in the area of Information Technology. "I, therefore, want to seize this opportunity to thank you and to also reiterate my unwavering commitment and support in contributing my quota in the development of The Gambia, under your Excellency’s able leadership.
Please allow me to once more avail myself of this opportunity to reassure Your Excellency of my unflinching loyalty to you and your government.

May the Almighty Allah shower his blessings and guidance on you and your entire family, and grant you long life, good health, happiness and prosperity.  May Allah continue to give you the courage and vision in running the affairs of our beloved nation, The Gambia.”

GAMBIZ
President Yahya Jammeh also received a letter of appreciation from a group of enterprising women, the members of the Alliance for Gambian Women in Business (GAMBIZ), who wished to express heartfelt gratitude over what they described as the president’s show of great concern and care for women in The Gambia.

In a letter addressed to the Office of the President, redirected to the Daily Observer from that office, the group writes: "We thank you immensely for accepting our request to name our Fanal after you, which is our only way of expressing our appreciation of your enormous efforts towards improving the lives of women in The Gambia."

They added: "Your generous support for our cause will go a long way in supporting our credit union designed to assist our less privileged members who have the capacity and zeal to go into self-employed businesses, but are constrained by lack of capital.
We assure you, therefore, that your assistance will be properly channeled towards complementing your efforts in the direction of socio-economic improvement and in gender development in The Gambia."

The members, who said they were encouraged by Professor Jammeh’s strong stance towards the advancement of women in the country, added: "The women of The Gambia are overwhelmingly proud of you, and wish you God’s guidance and blessings in all your wonderful strides towards creating happiness for humanity," the letter stated, and concluded: “We humbly wish to express our condolence over the death of your aunty, whom you cherished so much. May the Almighty Allah grant her eternal rest, and more so give you the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss."

Condolence message;
The Gambia’s ambassador to Venezuela, Bala Garba Jahumpa also wrote to extend condolences to President Jammeh on the loss of his aunt, Aja Fatou Jammeh.

Ambassador Jahumpa wrote:
“I wish to extend my solemn condolences to you and the entire Jammeh family. Although a sorrowful event, I have no doubt that it will only increase your faith as a devout Muslim.

We pray to the Almighty Allah to widen her grave and reward her with paradise. May Allah bestow upon the family the spiritual strength to bear this loss faithfully.  Amen!

Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration and esteem.”
