The Nigerian Mbaise Family Association, mainly from the Igbo tribe, on Sunday, launched their website and constitution at a ceremony held at St Therese’s Upper Basic School in Kanifing.

The association which was initiated in The Gambia with the sole aim of promoting Mbaise culture as well as strengthening brotherly love and care among Mbaise indigens in The Gambia and beyond has been giving scholarships to needy students in the country.

In his validation speech, the chairman of the association, Sam Chima Oculor, highlighted the important role Mbaise is playing in the education sector in The Gambia.  According to him, the association has worked hard to assist the less privileged, especially girls, to acquire the needed skills and to achieve quality education.

For his part, the chairman of the occasion, Mr Hycent Ekulidem, maintained that the clear mission and dedication rendered by the association to the public will no doubt strengthen the bilateral relationship between The Gambia and Nigeria.

A three-year scholarship was awarded to one Roseline Gomez of St Thereses Upper Basic during the ceremony.  The Mbaise website can be accessed at www.mbaiseinthegambia.org.
