Demba Jarju now has to serve five years imprisonment following his violation of the law to satisfy his sexual libido. Demba Jarju, 23, was convicted last Tuesday at the Brikama Magistrates' Court presided by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh after he contravened section 123 of the criminal code.

Elucidating the facts in court was sergeant Samura. He revealed to the court that on the 26th April 2009, between Mandouarr Jallow Kunda and Brikama, the complainant met with the accused in the bush. While the complainant was going to Brikama, she met an assailant who greeted her. Upon her response the accused grabbed her on the shoulders and knocked her down and tried to use force on her.

According to the facts adduced in court, as Mr. Jarju struggled to have carnal knowledge with the complainant, at that time the accused heard a sound that resembled foot steps of a man and all of a sudden the accused ran into the bush with the shoes of the complainant with him.

At that juncture, one Ousman Sambou also arrived and given the direction the accused ran in. As they went on the search, the accused was apprehended from his hide out and taken to Brikama Police Station where he was subsequently charged for the said offences.

After proving their case beyond all doubt the court sentenced the culprit to five years imprisonment with hard labour.
