Bundung Magistrates’ Court last Monday convicted and sentenced one Abubacarr Tunkara to fine of USD 1,320 in default to serve three years imprisonment for fraud.

In her judgement, the presiding magistrate stated that the prosecution in support of their case called two witnesses while the defence called only one witness. She said the convict later changed his plea from not guilty to guilty. She said upon the own plea of guilty the court convicted and sentenced him accordingly.

It could be recalled that the convict was said to have with intent to defraud the Gambia Government, concealed 44 diamond stones instead of declaring them.
