Over four hundred people from Niani district in the Central River Region North. led by the district authority, last Saturday November 29, embarked on a major Set-Setal at Wassu Lumo site.
Shortly after the Set-Setal, the district Chief Pierre Bah, emphasized the importance of environmental sanitaion. He urged them to keep up the momentum in order to maintain their environment clean. He further appealed to the business community to participate during the exercise. He commended the police for their active participation in the set-setal.
Lamin Samateh, the NEA regional Inspector, thanked the people of Niani for their positive turnout and active participation. He informed them that the anti–littering regulations law have been passed and any body who defaulted will be fine or imprison.
He pointed out that cleaning our environment will not only help to reduce the potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes but will also transform the nation into one of the cleanest and healthiest in Africa.
Pa Sanyang pointed out that the operation clean the nation on a monthly basis has indeed brought about significant improvement in the control of litter and the general cleanliness of the environment.
He said since the inception of the exercise it has tremendously reduced volumes of rubbish and litters that where thrown about indiscriminately in and around the village and towns.
Malang Camara, a particiapant, commended the people of Niani for their active participation and impressive turn out.
