Kudang ward by-election date set

The country’s electoral body, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), has issued a press release, setting the date for the by-election in Kudang ward, after the demise of the last  councilor.

Below is the full text of the release. Following the notification from the Janjanbureh Area Council of the demise of the Councilor for Kudang Ward, the late Maku Ceesay; the Independent Electoral Commission will conduct a by-election to fill the said vacant seat in the Jangjangbureh Area Council on Thursday 14th May 2009.

This is in accordance with Section 23 of the Local Government Act 2002, with respect to Section 19 (a) of the same Act.
