KEYDS embark on set-settal

Kanifing East Youth development Society (KEYDS), a youth organisation with the objective empowering and capacitating the youth folk, last Saturday embarked on a cleansing exercise.

The exercise has become a monthly route. Sainey MK Mareneh, secretary general of the youth group, proclaimed that operation clean the nation manifests KEYDS’ commitment towards cleanliness, a move complementary of Government’s effort towards national development.

Mr Mareneh maintained that their drive to the attainment of a clean nation is born out of the principle that “a healthy nation is a wealthy nation.” He urged the youths to come in their large numbers whenever they are needed for mission associated with promoting the welfare of the nation.

For his part, Omar Conteh, PRO and Assistant Finance Controller of KEYDS, said they had been doing these for a long time now, and that it was in line with their motto, which is “to develop our society and the young people too.”

Conteh stressed that it is only by engaging in ventures of this nature could they appear responsible and contribute in the development drive every Gambian yearns for. He concluded by saying that cleaning one’s environment is a way of improving on one’s wellbeing, which accelerate the process of achieving their target goals.
