Members of the Judiciary family on Thursday 1st October 2009 held a day open forum marking the beginning of the new legal year.
The event that brought together all the Judiciary staff was meant to create an avenue for the judiciary staff to interact, get to know each other and brainstorm on issues affecting the smooth, effective and efficient operations of the judiciary.
The Chief Justice, who presided over the event, dwelled on the importance of commitment to duty, hard work and display of high sense of integrity.
He maintained that every staff member of the judiciary has a stake towards moving the judiciary to where it ought to be and that each staff member has a responsibility to either the good or bad image of the judiciary, thus the need for collective responsibility.
Chief Justice Agim explained the rational behind the gathering and the need to reposition themselves as a team towards achieving the objectives of the judiciary.
He added that they are members of the same family and each of them has a share of responsibility. He reminded them of the role of the judiciary in the justice system of the country, noting that he wants a functional judiciary system.
“We cannot have a strong and committed judiciary system without your support. I need your support,” he posited.
He used the gathering to revealed plans to improve on both the human and logistical capacity of the country’s judiciary system.
He disclosed that a series of training packages are in the pipeline for all staff at both local and international institutions.
The occasion was chaired by Haruna Jaiteh, the Judiciary Secretary, who also urged his colleagues to be loyal and committed to their duty.
