Struggling Jambanjelly and Young Africans played their week twelve fixtures of the ongoing GFA second division league with 1-1 draw last Tuesday at the Brikama Mini Stadium.

Both teams put up a spectacular performance during the first half but Young Africans had made few goal attempts in front of Jambanjelly goal mouth in the first quarter of the game.

Young Africans opened the scoring through their prolific striker, Demba Sarr, in the 2nd minute of the game from the penalty spot. Jambanjelly mounted a serious challenge and had created lots of scoring opportunities but were unable to equalise the score in the first half.

On the resumption of second half, Jambanjelly FC came all out and put more pressure on Young African’s defence only to break the deadlock through striker Sam Gibba in the 60th minute from the penalty spot. After Young Africans’ last defender, Muhammad Jatta, handled the ball deliberately inside the 18th yard box and as a result he was sent off.

Young Africans fought back for the victory and created lots of scoring chances in front of the Jambanjelly goal mouth but failed to capitalise on their chances and the final whistle left the game 1-1.

Jambanjelly currently are stuck at the rock bottom of the standings with only 8 points from twelve games while Young Africans are 5th position on the league ranking with 15 points from eleven games and a game in hand.
