Happy Retirement, Adel Sock

Wednesday, January 7, 2009
Editor,

I would like to extend my congratulations and well wishes to my teacher, mentor and colleague, Mrs. Adel Sock, on her retirement. Our class was one of the first art classes Adel taught at Saint Joseph’s. We were the graduating class of 1975, but were in Form 3  at the time. Adel’s energy and enthusiasm made learning  full of fun and enjoyable.

After graduating from high school, I pursued my degree in teaching Visual Arts. I later worked with Adel (1985-1988) at the art department at Saint Joseph’s High School and continued learning from her as a mentor and colleague. Adel, you have touched and made an impact on the lives of many Gambian girls and women, more than you would ever know.

You truly are a remarkable inspiration. Happy retirement!
