As part of the activities marking the Global week of Climate Action , Global Unification –The Gambia in partnership with other organisations has lined up a series of activities, such as tree-planting ,symposium on youths engaged in climate action , clean-up exercises and a climate-action-rally marking the campaign week.
“Through these activities, we hope to raise the level of awareness among young people on climate change solutions and to ensure their participation in environmental sustainability in the country.”
The rally which is expected to bring more than 1500 young people would also serve as an opportunity to support “seal the deal” campaign, initiated by the UN Secretary-General. This will also serve as the voice of the Gambian youths in preparation for world leaders’ summit on climate change, to be held in Copenhagen, in December 2009.
The procession will start at the GALP Petrol Station, Churchill’s Town and end at the Buffer Zone, where it will be succeeded by a musical concert.
The association is therefore calling on individuals and organisations interested in participating in this campaign to register at the GU Secretariat at Suit 106, Plazsa Office Centre, 151 Mosque Road, Serekunda.
