As Gambians ushered in the Muslims and Christians New Year, Imam Momodou Lamin Touray, the president of the Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (GSIC) has shifted his weight to the youth folk of this country, particularly young girls, imploring on them to ensure decent dressing in society.

He said that indecent dressing among girls, has become the other of the day. According to the erudite imam, indecent dressing totally contradicts the teachings and principle of the Islam, thus, calling on the young girls to desist themselves from such an immoral behaviour.

The leader of the country’s Muslim body was speaking to the Daily Observer on Monday at the Council building, along the MDI Road. ‘’It is very unfortunate and sad to see young girls dress in an indecent manner that doesn’t befits the society. The religion of God preserved maximum room for good moral behaviours.

For one to call yourself a good Muslim, your moral attitudes and behaviours in society must befits the teachings and principles of Islam. What makes the whole thing worst is the fact that, young girls who dressed very badly, their parents are always Muslims. This is unfortunate,’’ veteran Imam Touray underscored.

Imam Touray then reiterated the called for attitudinal change among the youth folk, particularly the girls. He equally enjoined the parents to direct their children according to the teachings and principles of the religion of Allah.

While praying for a prosperous and blissful new year, the Supreme Islamic Council boss saluted the leadership of the country for the continuous effort in ensuring a peaceful, tolerable and stable state.
