GPA suffered their first defeat in the hands of struggling Kaira Silo 2-1 on Tuesday, in week nine fixtures of the ongoing GFA Second Division League at Manjai Football pitch.
The thrilling encounter produced terrific and spectacular performance by both sides. Kaira Silo opened the scores through striker Demba Drammeh in the 11th minute.
GPA, who were confident and eager for an equalising goal, mounted heavy pressure on the Kaira Silo defence and their efforts paid dividend in the 16th minute when midfielder Alagie Fatajo levelled the scores from a spectacular free kick and the first half ended 1-1.
As action resumed in the second half, Kaira Silo who are struggling at the bottom of the second division league standing, came all out to put pressure on the GPA defence. They finally scored their winning goal in the 72nd minute through striker Sanna Jobe after capitalising on GPA goalkeeper’s error to make it 2-1 for his team.
Kaira Silo now has 7 points from nine games and they are at 9th position in the standing, while GPA are second with 16 points from nine games.
In the other week nine fixtures, Ham Ham lost to Serrekunda United 2-0 at Serrekunda East Mini Stadium. Serrekunda United now have 11 points in nine games and are 5th position in the standing, while Ham Ham have 11 points in nine games and now share third position with Interior who have a game in hand.
