All is set for the Gambia National Olympic Committee Special General Assembly billed for June 6th 2009 at the Olympic House Resource Centre. National sports associations and affiliates of the GNOC will witness and be part of another historic event in the annals of Gambian sports when another GNOC bureau is elected to run the affairs of the body in the next coming years.
Major General Lang Tombong Tamba who stood for the position of president won the position following a unanimous vote and withdrawal of aspiring candidate Abdoulie M Touray.
As part of the agenda of the day, the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Sheriff Gomez will deliver the keynote address to be followed by a report of the President of the GNOC.
The Secretary General is also expected to give an account of a quadrennial report on the activities of the GNOC.
The 2008 audited accounts will be presented by the Treasurer when delegates will proceed on the confirmation of the minutes of the General assembly held on Saturday 10th January 2009.
A presentation on the 2009 Budget and Calendar of Activities and consideration of the GNOC constitution to be adopted by delegates will also be made.
The election of officers of the Bureau which is the main item on the agenda will take centre stage.
