GNOC Announces Demise of Former Football International, Late Pa William Ndure

The death is announced of Pa William Ndure commonly known by his contemporaries as ‘Ngarrah’ a name he picked up during his international footballing days. He passed away last Thursday in the United States.

Pa William was one of the best inside right players in the Gambia in the late 60’s and early 70’s. He played for Phantoms, UAC, and Black Diamonds, and helped them win several championship trophies.

He was an automatic choice for the National Football Team and was a member the Gambian football team that last defeated Senegal in an official match, in the Kwame Krumah Gold Cup competition played in Dakar, in 1962.

Pa William was a disciplined player and was never given a Red Card throughout his football career.

Mr. Pa William Ndure was inducted into The Gambia’s Sports Merit List by the Gambia National Olympic Committee in 2007.

He was one of the country’s great players and a role model for young players. His son Ebou Ndure was once the 1st Vice President of the GFA.

His body will be flown in today for burial.
