Gamswiss Scholarship Scheme on Saturday November 29, presented an amount of thirty-five thousand eight hundred dalasis (D35,800) to the principal of Armitage Senior Secondary School in Janjangbureh, CRR. The money was meant to sponsor ten needy students from the school.
In his presentation speech, Daniel Gomez, one of the coordinators of the scheme recounted the brief history of the organisation. According to him, it was established by Gambian migrants in Switzerland and their aim is to help needy and deserving students in The Gambia. The pioneer of the project is one Momodou Lamin Barrow.
Gomez disclosed that they are sponsoring students in three schools: Armitage Senior Secondary School, Janjangbureh Upper Basic School and Tallinding Islamic Institution.
The principal of Armitage, Ebrima M Joof, commended Gamswiss for their humanitarian assistance. He called on other philanthropists to emulate Gamswiss members.
