Gamcel Largesse To Kunkujang Clinic

In their bid to provide quality and accessible healthcare service to all communities in the country, the National GSM operator, Gamcel, on Tuesday 29th September, 2009, donated items worth over fifty thousands Dalasi to Kunkujang Health Post, at a presentation ceremony held at Gamcel House.

The donated items, which included mobile phones, chairs and refrigerators, were meant to uplift standards at the facility.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Ms. Ramou Nyass, Gamcel Customer Care Manager, spoke at length about the importance of Gamcel’s intervention, adding that the gesture would positively contribute towards meeting some of the shortcomings at the health post. Noting that health is paramount to nation-building, she said, Gamcel is committed to national development priorities areas.

“Gamcel is The Gambia’s National GSM Company, and as such the nation’s economic and social development is always given top priority,” she said.

Madam Nyass further disclosed that Gamcel contributes not only in the health sector, but also in education, agriculture, sports, among others.

For his part, Lamin Fofana, Gamcel Marketing Manager underscored the importance of the gesture, noting that health is fundamental to national development. She stressed that no country can attain meaningful development without access to quality health service delivery system.

Stating that a healthy nation leads to healthy economy, she said, Gamcel is committed to ensure quality health service delivery in the country. He urged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the items, as they would serve their intended purpose for a long time.

In receiving the donated items, Ms. Mariama Sankareh, a British national residing in The Gambia, who is the founder of the health post, commended Gamcel for their timely intervention. According to her, the donated items would be fully utilised for its intended purpose. 

She called on others to emulate Gamcel for their laudable gesture.
