Gambia’s Under-17 in High Gear

The Gambia U-17 team have put up an impressive warm up campaign by claiming victory over their counterparts as part of their one month training camp in Egypt.

The darling Scorpions defeated Mahaba FC 5-2 and beat the Egyptian U-20 one goal to zero.

Having fallen in a tough group with fellow contenders Algeria, Cameroon and Guinea, their warm up game will serve as another boost to their campaign.

The Gambia U-17 side will again be engaged in its third friendly game against the Arab Contractors FC on Tuesday.

According to SeedyMB Kinteh, President of The Gambia Football Association, the well- focused team that will be playing its first game in the opening against Guinea Conakry, will head for Algeria on March 16th 2009.

The delegation headed by the President of the Gambia Football Association, SeedyMB Kinteh, will leave Cairo via Morocco to attend the final of the 8th U-17 tournament scheduled March 19 to April 3, 2009.

“All the players currently at the training camp will travel to Algeria for the championship,” the GFA boss highlighted.
