Ibrahima Ceesay, a FIFA B Licenced coach is presently making a name for himself in the second tier of the Switzerland football league.

The 43-year old coach and former local player has had a Swiss second division, Liga Meisterschaft, entrusted to him, making him the only black coach presently managing a club in the Swiss second division league.

Ceesay, who returned to Switzerland after a brief visit to Banjul, told Observer Sports that his Liga Meisterschaft side finished the first round at 5th position, hinting that he is determined to guide the team to the top flight Swiss football league next season. Ceesay left The Gambia in 1994 for Switzerland, where he underwent various coaching courses while he was also coaching at the grassroot level. He secured his FIFA B License in 1998, after which he was promoted to the second division league.

“I was appointed as the head coach of Meisterschaft in 2008 after spending over a decade at the grassroot level and I want to make a mark in football coaching,” said Ceesay, who tasked his fellow countrymen to venture into coaching -  a trade he described as a  noble profession.
