Buganala" which literally means in the Senegambian Wolof language "I like you," a charitable foundation based in the Netherlands, has injected huge amount of money to fund the construction of a-million dalasi project for the Gambia Association of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (GADHOH), Western Region in Brikama.
The project will comprise of three classroom blocks including one office as well as a toilet and a store. The fund will also include the fencing and furnishing of the office. This is among numerable assistance that the Foundation has rendered for the Brikama GADHOH branch office.
Karamo Sanyang, chairman of GADHOH -Western Region expressed his delight about the donors’ gesture in funding the project. He recalled that their benefactors spared no efforts to take up this important project so as to enable the beneficiaries to get involve into skilful activities. The school, he added, will start operation in November of this year and is expected to enrol deaf children across the region who are between the ages of four and nine. He also explained that the offices would have a fully furnished skills centre for the deaf adults who will be trained on sign languages.
Sanyang further highlighted that his association has an overwhelming endeavour for the welfare of its members by providing them with worthy and beneficial programs. He commended the donors for what he described as a pragmatic move. In a similar vein, Regional secretary general of the association, Abdoukarem Drarmmeh also hailed the Buganala foundation for the assistance.
