Tuesday, March 24, 2009
The authorities at the Immigration Department have issued a warning urging foreign nationals living in The Gambia to update their Alien Cards.

This information was contained in a press release from the office of the director general of the Gambia Immigration Department. The statement stated that all non-Gambians who need to update their Alien Cards and Residential or Work Permits should come forward to settle the payments immediately.

It went on to say that any alien who is not in possession of these requirements is in contravention of the Gambia Immigration Act, and that as a result all and sundry are urged to come forth and regularize their status as soon as possible. "With effect from Monday the 23rd March 2009," the release stated. Immigration officers will be patrolling all areas countrywide to this effect." The authorities, the release added, solicit the co-operation and understanding of the general public.
