The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) yesterday, Thursday, January 8th 2009, successfully conducted a by-election to fill the vacant position of councillor for Foday Kunda Ward in the Basse Area Council.
According to press release from the IEC, this election is conducted in accordance with section 53 subsection 2 (a) of Decree 78 of 1996. The election according to the release, was contested by Mr Malamin Darboe of the APRC and Mr Alagie Kanteh of NADD.
