FAWEGAM Annual Dinner Party, Dance is Today

Friday, November 28, 2008

For decades the theme of education as a basic human right to education has occupied the world.

The Forum for African Women Educationalists The Gambia Chapter (FAWEGAM) was founded in 1990 following the 1990 jomtien Declaration on Education for All (EFA) by five female ministers of education. FAWEGAM, together with its partners, works at the continental, national and local levels to create positive societal attitudes, policies and practices that promote equity for girls in terms of access to retention and performance and good quality education.

It is in this same vein, that FAWEGAM is delighted to hold their Traditional Annual Dinner and Dance today at the Paradise Suites Hotel, the 28th of November 2008. This event will raise money for the building of the multipurpose centre and secretariat that will be used as a refuge for girls and women’s skills training centre under the patronage of Her Excellency The First Lady Madam Zeinab Yahya Jammeh.

FAWEGAM is today proud to say that they have provided scholarships for over 900 outstanding students, some of whom are boys, in the Western Region. This goes a long way to show their relentless efforts in nation building and the improvement of socio–economic lives of girls and women in The Gambia.
