ECOBANK Opens New Branch In Bakau

ECOBANK Gambia, the Pan African Bank last Saturday 6th June 2009 opened its new branch in Bakau, bringing to five, the total number of branches in the country.

Located along the Medical Research Council highway, the area is a major commercial intersection within the Greater Banjul Area, and most importantly within the tourism industrial area.

The opening of the new branch would no doubt make convenience in terms of proximity for industrialists and business people operating within Bakau and Fajara.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Alieu Awe, Country Finance Officer said the opening of the new branch was yet another milestone not only in the history of ECOBANK, but the country’s financial sector as a whole.

“As it is always said, ECOBANK as part of its objectives is committed to providing convenient, accessible and reliable banking services to greater masses”, he said.

He said the opening of the new bank is a continuation of the strategic objectives the bank set for itself. The efforts, according to Mr. Awe, is also in support of the bank’s overall strategy to widen its branch network in fulfilment of its intent to take banking to the doorsteps of the people it serves.

Bakau branch, he added, comes with a difference; a difference in that the branch is totally private banking outfit. “This initiative forms part of ECOBANK’s strategy to offer a unique service designed to suit the banking needs of a unique clientele base.

The private banking branch, he went on, will offer a full range of financial services and products from which customers can make a choice.

For her part, Mrs. Ramatoulie Njie, Head of Retail Banking, said despite the challenges in the economy and the intense competition, the bank has been able to post a remarkable improvement in profit. “We will continue to render our performance with an expansion of our products, our services, our people and the strengthening of customer relationship,” he stated.

She called on customers within the area to join the new branch, saying that ECOBANK is here to make easy access to customers.
