Dutchman arrested for threatening to murder his wife

Sirach Verbury, a Dutchman, was recently arrested after allegedly being found in possession of unlicensed firearms. He is also accused of threatening to kill his Gambian wife, Phelomena Jarjue, a resident of Kololi.

According to Chief Inspector Fulo Mbaye, station officer, Kotu police station, Phelomena Jarjue reported to the police that her husband, Sirach Verbury, threatened to kill her and that he has a rifle and a pistol with him. Chief Inspector Mbaye added that the police invited Sirach Verbury for questioning and after thorough investigations, discovered a single barrel rifle, a pistol, a knife, and bullets (not live bullets).

He further revealed that the 68-year old told the police that he has been in possession of the rifle and pistol for almost 23 years and that he came to The Gambia in 2006. Chief Inspector Mbaye finally told journalist that the Dutchman will be charged for being in possession of unlicensed firearms.
