Buba Sarr, the president of the Community Assistance Group (CAG) has condemned the sky rocketing prices of consumer goods in the country, describing the situation as being due to greed on the part of the business community, especially retailers.
He made these remarks last Monday at his office at the Serrekunda market during a chat with the Daily Observer. According to him, the prices of these commodities continue to go up on daily basis without any tangible reason. This, he said, is an unprecedented issue and uncalled for.
Sarr further added that plans are in the pipeline for his group to embark on a nationwide tour to hold consultation meetings with the business community and the population at large, about the issue. He called on the business community to consider the plight of the consumers and help to stabilise the prices of the basic commodities. “If the call for the reduction of the prices of these commodities is adhered to, there will be peace in this country,” he said.
