Buba Barrow, a German-based Gambian and co-proprietor of Gunjur Janneh Koto FM, a private radio station in Gunjur, recently donated fire-fighting materials worth over two hundred thousand Euros to the Brikama Fire Station, at a presentation held at the Brikama Fire Station grounds in Brikama.
Speaking at the ceremony, Barrow said that the donation aims to uplift the standards of the fire station and to enhance effective service delivery. He added that the donation is aimed at complementing the government’s efforts in responding adequately to fire outbreaks.
Receiving the donated items, Lamin Sanneh, the governor of Western Region, thanked the donor for what he called a “wonderful” gesture. He noted that the donation was timely and very vital in combating fire outbreaks in communities.
Ousman Sanyang, deputy chief fire officer of the Brikama Fire Station also thanked the donor and promised that the items will be put to good use. Saikouna Sanneh, the nominated youth councillor of Brikama Area Council, chaired the ceremony.
