Bicycle Thief Convicted

Following his plea of guilt to the offence of stealing a pedal bicycle, one Modou Korika Jallow was recently convicted and sentenced to a fine of D2000 in default to serve six months imprisonment with hard labour.

The sentence was administered by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

According to the factsof the case, on the 18th May 2009 at Wellingara Village the complainant Ebrima Bah gave his bicycle to his younger brother to visit his grandmother. The facts added that the younger brother parked the bicycle outside the compound and went inside, when the accused took the said bicycle and went way with it. The matter was reported to the police who mounted an investigation and the accused was subsequently arrested and taken to Serrekunda Police station were he was cautioned and charged with offence committed.
