Banjul Pharmacy Assists Essau Health Centre

As part of their contribution to the health sector, Banjul Pharmacy, the leading pharmaceutical provider in The Gambia recently donated clinic materials to Eassu Health Centre. The ceremony was held at the Eassu Health Centre in Eassu.

The donated materials comprised 20 mattresses, plastic chairs, 40 Bed sheets, Dust bins 33 curtains, washing pans, Brushes, television and washing liquids worth of D70,000.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mrs. Yolla Hocheimy said that Banjul Pharmacy has been operating in the country for some time now. She said, “health they said is wealth and what is more, a healthy nation is indeed a wealthy one as the government alone cannot do it. It id therefore incumbent on all well-meaning individuals and organisations to chip in their bit in the provision of health service to the citizenry.”

Mrs. Hocheimy pointed out that in the recognition of this and especially in response to the request made by Essau Health Centre, “It is worthy to note our support to the sector is unwavering. We will continue to support the health services in our own little way.

She added that Banjul Pharmacy has been providing pharmaceutical products to all health sectors in the country. “From its humble beginnings, Banjul Pharmacy has grown to be a foremost name in the Gambian medical and health sector,” she said. She added that Banjul Pharmacy operates a wholesale outlet and four retail dispensing pharmacy outlets strategically located to cater for the health needs of residents of Banjul, the Kombo’s and its environs. Banjul Pharmacy is the sole distributor for products from such pharmaceuticals companies as Bell in UK Remedica Cyprus, just to name few, she concluded.

Also speaking at presentation Mr. Fabakary Nana Sonko, the chief of Lower Niumi District, said that his district is thanking Mr. Jimmy Olu Coker for making possible “what we are witnessing here today” and Banjul pharmacy through MFH . Chief Sonko Added that the Government alone cannot do it without the intervention of the private sector or individuals.

He said the people in his district are very committed in terms of health services especially the women ‘KOFOO’ in the area. “They are ready to respond to calls when the need arises,” he said.

The chief prayed that the donated materials would go a long way towards helping the community of his district who are benefiting from the Health Centre.
