Assan Njie,the undisputable and erudite Senegalese Mbalax super star of our time,on Saturday,November 29th stages a rare musical and thrilling performance at the prestigious and glamorous Paradise Suite Hotel in Kololi.
This somewhat rare musical and artistic showbiz is meant to raise fund for the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) Football team as they are to participate in the Wallo Games to be staged in Kampala,Uganda.
The musical performance brought together security chiefs in the Gambia,some of them in company of their spouses,friends and love ones. The show is a manifestation and prove of the famous adage that,all works without play makes jack a dul boy. Our brothers and sisters in uniform have a unique role to play in maintenance of peace and stability in the country.
The importance of security and stability cannot be over emphasised in all aspects in development, in any given country,which the Gambia is not an exception.The Gambian leader,President Jammeh made it abundantly clear that,the security,peace and stability of the Gambia cannot be compromised.
This statement was on several occasions reiterated by security chiefs in the country,especially Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), Major General Lang Tombon Tamba among others.
The Saturday night long musical and artistic jamboree at the Paradise Suites Hotel, has featured the renowned Senegalese king of Mbalax, Assan Njie along side other top flight and sprouting Gambian artists such as Yusupha Ngum,Pa Omar Jack alias ‘borom chims and chims’ Jali Nyali alias King of Manding music, among others.
The night was blessed with extensive merry making and fun accompanied by non-stop dancing and singing in the most melodious and beautiful voices. The venue was full to capacity with both music and artistic lovers with the Senegalese Mbalax super star exhibiting his best in the world of music.
Many who spoke to the arts and culture described the night fund raising show as a rare musical showbiz in the history of the Gambia.According to them,it was an interactive and idea sharing with our security chiefs.”.Music has the potentials to bring about the much awaited universal peace,unity and love.It has the potentials to heal and restore confidence within people of diverse culture and background”, said one member of the audience.
Colonel Ousman Badjie, an Officer of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), welcomed the guests on behalf of the Chief of Defence Sfaff (CDS) of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF),Major General Lang Tombong Tamba, who was present along side other security chiefs such as Director General (DG) of National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Inspector General of Police (IGP), Commander Gambia Navy, among others.
Colonel Badjie,seized the opportunity to thank what he described as the generous and benevolent sponsors of the fund raising programme and friends of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF). He assured them of the GAF open door policies and readiness to work with the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) at all times.
