Artist Sent To Jail For Robbery

The Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on Monday 15th June 2009, convicted and sentenced one Alieu Badjie, an artist who was facing criminal charge of robbery, to four months in prison. The convict was also ordered to pay compensation to the complainant in the sum of D3, 650.

Announcing the verdict, the trial Magistrate Mahoney, informed the court that the offence the convict was charged with is a serious one, adding that the convict pleaded guilty which the court considers a mitigating factor.

Magistrate Mahoney further warned the convict to desist from any criminal activities and rehabilitate himself as a young man.

It is alleged that the accused sometime in May 21st 2009, at Pipeline in the Kanifing Municipality robbed one Mr. Ngum of his wallet containing D500 and a Sagem Mobile.
