Armed robbers attack Galleh Fulbeh village

Tuesday, December 2, 2008
About thirty armed rubbers were recently reported to have attacked Galleh Fulbeh, a tiny settlement in the Upper Fulladu District, CRR. The armed rubbers were said to have escaped with many valuable items and some money.

Even items such as jewellery, clothing, were not spared by the armed rubbers. Biran Baldeh, District Chief, in a chat with this reporter said the ward councillor of the area had informed him about the incident around 3 am.

He however blamed it on lack of telephone network in the area, which he believed made it difficult to apprehend the rubbers or contact the police about the incidence.

Chief Baldeh indicated that the people of Galleh Fulbeh have a lot of animals, many small and large ruminants. This, he pointed out, might have attracted the armed rubbers to launch such attack on them on several occasions.

He commended the Galleh Manda youth for their support during the incident, stating that no casualty was reported. For his part, Alhagie Neneh Mbye, the Ward Councillor, said the bullets the armed rubbers had fired landed in a village called Bulmanda.

She indicated further that unconfirmed report said that a bullet came in contact with one Alhagie Abdou Ndow. “The armed rubbers used AK47 riffles,” the ward councillor noted.
